Play • 40 min

Ever feel like you don’t have the "right" resume for the job you’re applying for? Rachel Hollis has. The motivational speaker and author didn’t receive a formal education. And didn’t have a network or connections when she was starting out. But the secret to her success? Pure hustle. This week, Rachel shared why showing an employer how hard you work will get you hired...fancy degree optional.

In this special live (over Zoom) episode, Rachel shares her advice for dealing with burnout (19:23), her favorite question to ask in a job interview (23:20), and what she won’t share on social media (27:23).

Editor's Note: We asked Rachel to address the controversy and criticism surrounding her lack of inclusivity and accusations of plagiarism. Listen at 29:19.

Why you need video previews for your TpT Products in 2021 with Chloe Tascoff
Boost your conversion rate on Teacher Pay Teachers through Video Previews A few years ago, Teachers Pay Teachers (TpT) rolled out a new initiative that allows you to attach a video preview to your TpT Products. And ever since, there have been a LOT of questions. Questions like: What can this do for my TpT Marketing? Will a preview actually increase my TpT Sales? And most of all...how do I even get started with video? Why Video Preview Matters Video previews are so successful because your customers get to see themselves using your TpT products before they buy them. Think about it. Influencer culture works because we can see ourselves living that life. And the same thing is true for your TpT products. A video allows a teacher to visualize using your products, which means that it will be easier for that same teacher to make the decision to purchase your products. Meet Chloe Tascoff, the Video Marketing Expert In this episode, I’ve invited Chloe Tascoff, an expert in the TpT video preview field to share a few powerful reasons why video marketing should matter to you. Chloe started creating videos for TpT sellers in 2019 and, while she has her own store, she also leaned into video production and marketing. Talk about using something you’re good at to diversify your income! You’re going to be amazed. By focusing on video, she tripled her sales in one month! Listen here and learn what TpT video preview might start doing for you. In this episode, you will learn: -What video editing program is easier to use than iMovie… -Why most people prefer to watch video online -Which three areas to focus on in order to create a professional-looking video -Where else you can use your TpT video previews -And which social media platform is optimized for your videos! Be the Queen (with Elsa Majimbo) - Episode 8
On this episode of Professional Troublemaker, Luvvie is talking to comedian and social media sensation Elsa Majimbo. Pre-global pandemic, Elsa was a journalism student with just over seven thousand followers. Fast forward a few viral videos later, and Elsa is out here with a Fenty endorsement and major corporate partnerships, taking meetings with actors and musicians she's looked up to for years, releasing her own ASMR song about snacks on Apple Music and Spotify, all while millions of people around the world waiting for her to drop her next video. Elsa is making her voice heard through her comedy, which is amazing. And she’s one of those people who was born to speak out in the world - which is why you might be surprised to hear her talk about how she’s actually shy and quite reserved. But her sense of abundance and gratitude and joy for everything she has the opportunity to do right now is infectious and such an example of what is possible if we feel the fear and start doing the thing we want to do regardless. *** Follow @Luvvie everywhere – Instagram, Facebook, Twitter. 238- How a “No” Pushed Marvina Robinson Into Creating Her Company, B. Stuyvesant Champagne
Marvina Robinson is the founder and CEO of her own boutique brand champagne company, B. Stuyvesant Champagne that was launched in February 2020. Her journey was anything but “ordinary.” She puts it this way: “There was no direct correlation.” With a Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Master’s degree in Statistics, and the career path of working in finance on Wall Street for over 20 years, the entrepreneur bug hit her, big time. Prior to Stuyvesant (as it’s affectionately called), Marvina had her own indoor cycling studio, which she later converted into a café. After the landlord of the building the café was hosted in wouldn’t allow her to sell beer or wine, she took his “no” as a lead to make her vision a reality, and open up a champagne bar. So she took the next lead, and ventured to France to make connections in the champagne and wine world. While sitting down eating crepes in France at 5 a.m., she met someone who would help her make the introductions she needed to succeed, and the outcome of that is what you see today. Although Marvina didn’t know what she was looking for, at first, and her business plan was in her brain, notebook and laptop, she’s proud that she built her business incrementally, and her “true business” is now falling into place. The insane grind included red eye flights between Manhattan and France for almost a year. For Marvina, it was all worth it.
