Gimme Shelter: Happy Birthday Molly
It’s April 1944 in Illinois. Molly McIntire is gearing up for the big 1-0 when a new arrival comes to town. In book four, Molly gets new roommate— a refugee from London named Emily. Sure, there’s a war on, but that won’t stop Molly from turning life’s lemons into an unwanted lemon cake. Tune in to hear our coverage of Molly’s birthday week and a discussion of twilight birth that no one asked for. Trust us, this Molly mood is a Taurus-de-force. "Shirley Takes the Cake" Evening Star. There's a chill in the air and it is officially winter. In this episode of the WeCrochet Podcast we're talking all about cuddling up and crocheting the winter days away. First, Heather and Sara check in and find out how each other's holiday went and what projects they worked on during their time off. Next, Heather & Regan chat about our Wintertide Collection, which has all the crochet patterns you need to make it until spring. Regan gives some behind-the-scenes info about the photo shoot for this collection, and they talk about their favorite of these patterns. Heather also teaches us about "hygge" which was one of the inspirations for this collection. Last, we're debuting our new segment, Ask Katelyn! Katelyn answers important crochet questions from our crochet community. Find out important info about yarn swifts, whether or not to use the magic ring, how to find the starting point on a ball of yarn, and more. Erin and Melody
Ep. 172 - After We Fall by Melanie Harlow (RERELEASE)
Hey HB's! This week we read After We Fall by Melanie Harlow. It's a contemporary novel with a soul-searching, rich girl heroine and an emotionally isolated widower who's still navigating symptoms of PTSD. There's a farm. There are attempts at chores. There are accidental meetings. There are dubious decisions outdoors. There's some peeping. There's some excellent dirty talk. And TREE SEX. Oh yes. Bonus Content: Erin is SO SICK! Rooster's probable Telegram Company. The Alaskan State Fair. Our thoughts on dudes with pastel whale shorts, boat shoes, and a disgusting sense of entitlement. A discussion of how to be a friend. What are eggs? IS THAT A GOAT? Totally hypothetical advice about sex against a tree. And how Melody might employ gymnastics to coat your car in all sorts of nonsense if you don't offer her the bathroom after sex. Self-Love Recommendations: Erin: Consider taking the leash off. Erin was too scared to let Rooster off the leash for years and this weekend she proved herself to be an ecstatic off-road adventure dog! Your loved ones could surprise you. Melody: Make sure you're registered to vote! We've got some important upcoming elections whether local, state, and national elections. Your voice matters! Subscribe! Rate! Review! Remodel vs New Build | Nostalgic or Fresh?
Today’s topic is about the ever present question: New Build or Remodel. We get a lot of questions about this so we've decided to discuss this subject and help you guys understand what to focus on when considering either option. Cory tells about his DIY remodel and the ongoing challenges he faced and his vote is on a new build. Sue however, just bought and is in the process of remodeling because she likes the sentimentality and nostalgia that goes into a remodel. WIth a new build, it gives people the opportunity to start fresh and assures the buyer that everything will work. While some people love to have a space that contains memories and feel the challenges are worth the trade-off. “When we're starting to work with a client and we're building a new home, we ask them, ‘Do you have anything from your previous home you want us to catalogue and make sure we include?’ And the majority of the time they say, ‘No, we want to start all over.’ And in my heart I kind of sink a little bit because I'm like, ‘Dang it.’ They've obviously invested in pieces, but none of it is important enough. There’s no memory tied to it to bring it to this new house.” 33:09 Join our mailing list to see space plans and get exclusive offers: https://manage.kmail-lists.com/subscriptions/subscribe?a=HZENWY&g=HnpGxW Cory’s remodel 7:04 One of the hard things about a remodel 12:49 New Construction 18:35 “We've worked with people, often when we're starting to work with a client and we're building a new home, we ask them, ‘Do you have anything from your previous home you want us to catalogue and make sure we include?’ And the majority of the time they say, ‘No, we want to start all over.’ And in my heart I kind of sink a little bit because I'm like, ‘Dang it.’ They've obviously invested in pieces, but none of it is important enough.
