That means a group of friends create a story together, chapter by chapter, that takes us beyond the tabletop to parts unknown. In the first campaign, we explored fantasy adventure, intrigue, magic, and drama. In the newest story, we tackle science, superpowers, a better future, and the responsibility to help others. Every month, we sit down for the Afterparty, where we break down our game and answer your questions about how to play D&D and other roleplaying games at home. We also have segments at the beginning of each campaign to teach people how to play the game themselves. It’s a party, and you’re invited! Find out more at jointhepartypod.com.

VMI 3.111213 There’s Gotta Be a Poughkeepsie Mortem
A LONG TIME AGO ON VERONICA MARS: * Remember Max, that guy who you can pay to cheat on tests? Well he’s fallen in love with a sex worker and wants Veronica to track her down! But it’ll cost him, financially and emotionally. * Remember Bonnie, the sexperson who had been dealing with Dick and other frats outside of her relationship with Luckyinawig? Well, she was pregnant, until someone slipped her a pill that caused her to miscarry. * Remember the Dean’s wife’s ex-husband Steve? He’s back, because now the Dean’s dead, Mindy can’t afford to pay him the bone marrow hush money any more. * Remember eggs, specifically the ones that the Dreaded Feminists threw at the Dean’s car and the Dean’s office? Keith is putting on his old sheriff uniform to investigate. * Remember Wallace’s sportsball coach? No? Never mind: he shows up dead, and the Marses have to prove that his son Josh isn’t the murderer. * Remember Madison Sinclair? Logan had sex with her! And so Loganica break up. Again. * Hence Logan is wallowing in heartbreak, until Dick runs off to Vegas and leaves him in charge of an 11-year-old girl - who is a better friend to him than anyone else has been on this show. Join Jenny Owen Youngs and Helen Zaltzman to investigate Veronica Mars season 3 episodes 11, 12 and 13: There’s Gotta Be a Poughkeepsie Mortem, and delve into such mysteries as why this show gives us 40 minutes of awful Max and one minute of our angel Wallace, what ‘interesting lingerie’ could mean, and why are truck nuts. Content note: Veronica Mars contains heavy themes, and this episode includes storylines concerning murder, suicide, sex work, rape, miscarriage, abortion and anti-abortion movements. 0.33: Invisi-BIPOC with Alba Daza & Mackenzie MacDade
On this week's episode of Buffering the Vampire Slayer, Alba Daza and Mackenzie McDade do an unapologetic deep dive into the BIPOC experience of invisibility. Join them as they discuss the metaphorical and literal ways that Buffy the Vampire Slayer illustrates the ways that BIPOC experience invisibility. They laugh, they (almost) cry, they tell it like it is, and they are ready. to. scrap. Be it through Buffy’s White Savior Complex, the revolution that is "Graduation Day Part 2," or the pure rage of Marcie in "Out of Mind Out of Sight," they are here to share in the solidarity of two BIPOC women talking about Buffy the Vampire Slayer, no holds barred. Happy Hour #93 - Podcast in C-sharp Minor - ‘Preludes’
Jim and Tomic get classical! This time we’re checking out Dave Malloy’s Lincoln Centre special - ‘Preludes'.’ Set in the hypnotised mind of big-handed composer Sergei Rachmaninoff, this is a show that is comfortably nestled in the fringes of contemporary musical theatre. We deep dive on Art’s (purposeful capital letter) representation in musical theatre, why this show didn’t sit well with a lot of the people who saw it and unsurprisingly we do some fanboying over Dave Malloy. Support the Show ➤ Preludes (Original Cast Recording) iTunes / Spotify SHOW NOTES If you fancy pulling apart the weird idiosyncrasies of the English language in the UK look no further than the Map Men! Normally we would just recommend the cast recording but to get the full picture of ‘Preludes’ you’ll want to get your hands on this libretto! Here’s a great interview with the hue-some twosome behind this show! We didn’t chat too much about it on the ep but Joseph Keckler who plays Rach’s best friend Chaliapin is a bit of a vocal god… Is this show one of your Rice Krispie Treats? Let us know! Remember you can come chat to us about the episode on Twitter and Instagram @jimandtomic! Or if you wanna pop OFF then jump into our email inbox at jimandtomic@gmail.com! Or come join us on the discord! A Poppin’ Quiz Question The film version of this musical very nearly turned into a Mary Poppins reunion. Serendipitously, fate pulled both Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke out of the running for their respective roles. What show? Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
